Pregnancy Week 15: What to Expect This Week
Pregnancy Week 15 is often when the fog of the first trimester begins to lift. You might be feeling more human, more hungry, and possibly even more excited—now that the “just about coping” phase is giving way to the “okay, I’ve got this (sort of)” stage.
Let’s see what’s happening with you and baby this week.
Baby at Pregnancy Week 15
Your baby is around 10cm long and weighs about 70g—roughly the size of a pear, but way busier.
This week, baby is:
Growing fine hair (lanugo) all over their body to help regulate temperature
Developing bones and joints—they’re wiggling fingers, toes, arms and legs
Practising facial expressions—even frowning and squinting
Starting to sense light, even with eyes still closed
Getting their taste buds and swallow reflex ready for the future
They’re also floating around in amniotic fluid like a tiny astronaut, and moving more than you can feel (for now).
Your Symptoms at Pregnancy Week 15
Hopefully you’re starting to feel a bit brighter by now, but here’s what else might be showing up:
Nasal congestion—pregnancy rhinitis is a common (and annoying) side effect
Bloating or wind (the glamour continues)
Stretching or pulling sensations in your belly
More energy, especially compared to those early weeks
Changes in skin pigmentation—like a darkening line down your tummy (linea nigra)
Glossier hair or breakouts—either way, hormones are in charge
Top tip: If you’re noticing any skin tightness or itching as your bump grows, treat it to a daily massage with our Pregnancy Massage Oil. It’s gentle, nourishing, and bump-safe from day one.
What to Do at Pregnancy Week 15
You’re in a great window now to start some gentle prep:
If you haven’t already, book your 16-week midwife appointment
Start making a list of questions to ask—this is your space to check in on baby and your own wellbeing Begin exploring antenatal classes, even if it feels early—popular ones book up quickly
Think about how you’d like your partner or support person to be involved in the months ahead
Prioritise sleep, stretching, and snacks—your body’s working hard!
Honest Midwife Thoughts
Pregnancy Week 15 is one of those quiet milestones—not as headline-grabbing as week 12 or 20, but often the week you finally start to feel like you’re in this. The scan is done (or coming soon), the secret’s out, and the second trimester is gently building momentum.
This is the perfect moment to start thinking about how you want to feel when birth rolls around—not the details yet, but the vibe. Informed? Calm? Confident? Supported? Our classes are here to help you build toward that with no pressure and no judgment.
