10 Weeks Pregnant – Double Digits, Double the Hormones

author-img Louise 13 February 2025 No Comments

You’re 10 weeks pregnant, which means you’ve officially hit double digits, but also… possibly the height of the hormone storm.

This week can be a bit of a mixed bag: one minute you’re crying at a dog food advert, the next you’re Googling “can I survive only eating plain pasta until I give birth?”. If that sounds familiar, you’re in exactly the right place.

Here’s what’s happening in your tenth week of pregnancy.

👶 What’s Your Baby Up To at 10 Weeks?

Right now, your baby is roughly the size of a strawberry — about 3.5–4cm from head to bottom — and growing quickly.

Major developments this week:

🧠 Baby’s brain is developing rapidly — especially the cerebellum (that’s the bit responsible for movement)

✋ Fingers and toes are now separated (no more little paddles!)

👃 Baby’s nose is more visible, and the jawbone is forming

💓 Their tiny heart is beating strongly — around 170 bpm

🕺 They’re wiggling around like mad, even though you can’t feel it yet

Inside, all the vital organs are formed and starting to work. From here on out, it’s all about growing, refining, and fattening up.

🤰 Symptoms at 10 Weeks Pregnant

This is often peak symptom territory — but with the light at the end of the first trimester tunnel not far away.

You might be experiencing:

Nausea and vomiting (still clinging on for dear life)

Exhaustion that makes sitting upright feel like a chore

Vivid dreams or disturbed sleep

Tender, tingling or suddenly enormous boobs

Bloating and trapped wind (fun at parties)

Mood swings

A weird sense that you just don’t feel like yourself

If any of these are making you question your sanity — you’re not alone. And no, it doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong. It means your body is working incredibly hard behind the scenes.

🗓 What Should I Be Doing at 10 Weeks?

This week is mostly about growingresting, and preparing for your first scan (typically offered between 11–14 weeks).

A few helpful things to tick off:

Make sure your booking appointment is done (or chase it if not)

Keep taking your folic acid or folate, plus vitamin D

Drink plenty of water — even if you’re peeing every 3.5 minutes

Rest when you can (and ignore the “should be glowing by now” brigade)
